Offered once a month, our grief support group is designed to help heal the wounds of folks who may have experienced a significant loss.
We offer empathy, education, and support.
This event is open to all who have had any significant loss. This could include:
- Bankruptcy
- Divorce and all other break ups
- Loss of health
- Loss of a job
- A death of a loved one
- Loss of dreams how we thought our life was going to evolve
- Loss of a pet
- And any other loss you may personally have experienced
Grief is a natural reaction to significant loss, and can manifest itself in a bewildering cluster of emotions. These emotions can be uncomfortable for the person experiencing them and also disconcerting to others witnessing the emotions. Therefore, we often suppress grief and put on a “brave face” but this can promote internal conflict and lead to break downs in physical and emotional health. This can be avoided by working with a therapist or a grief support group.
Also be aware that losses happen in our life and we keep on going without taking time to properly heal. So no matter how long ago was your loss you are welcome to join us.
What we will cover:
- We will look at a healthy response to grief
- Understanding the many faces of loss
- Becoming aware of the five phases of grief
- Steps to help move through the five phases
- How to move out of the crisis mode

Tuesday, January 23, 2012 – Introduction
This introduction will look at the five phases of grieving. We will explore holistic approaches like Bach remedies, aromatherapy, accupressure, meditation and homeopathy as methods to help cope during this difficult transitional period.
Tuesday, February 19, 2012 – Triggers and Journaling
Have you ever woken up happy and motivated only to be suddenly hit with a cloud of doom that makes you feel depressed, anxious, and hopeless?
When it comes to processing grief and loss, there may be everyday situations that can trigger your grief so you find yourself unexpectedly bursting into tears or blowing up like a volcano. This workshop will help you recognize and understand the triggers that can suddenly set you off. You will learn to cope, and even learn how to transform the triggers into a positive behaviour.
We will also look at the role of journaling to help process uncomfortable emotions.
Tuesday, March 26, 2012 – Journaling and Meditation
We will further explore journaling to help process your feelings of loss. Journaling is a great tool to process emotions but most folks do not know how to get started. This workshop will give you all the tools to start journaling to gain clarity to help clear negative events.
The evening will be concluded with a guided meditation to heal loss and bring in peace.
Please pass along information to anyone you know who could use our support service.
Thank you for helping our community heal.
