In my morning shower I lather up, wash my hair and condition it with natural products carefully selected to be sure they don’t contain xenoestrogens. I wish I knew 20 years ago what I know now because I was plagued with fibroids – 14 of them! I’m not saying xenoestrogens were the cause of my fibroids, but they have been linked to chronic health problems.
Xenoestrogenes are chemicals found in cleaning products, personal hygiene products and make up. Yes dear girls, every time you put on makeup and lipstick you are putting on your daily dose of lead.
Even high end product lines are filled with metals and plastics that will increase your chances of moving to a place of chronic health problems.
Xenoestrogens are a type of xenohormone that imitates estrogen. They can be either synthetic or natural chemical compounds. Synthetic xenoestrogens are widely used industrial compounds, such as PCBs, BPA and phthalates, which have estrogenic effects on a living organism even though they differ chemically from the estrogenic substances produced internally by the endocrine system of any organism.
Xenoestrogens are clinically significant because they can mimic the effects of endogenous estrogen and thus have been implicated in precocious puberty and other disorders of the reproductive system.
The potential ecological and human health impact of xenoestrogens is of growing concern. The word xenoestrogen is derived from the Greek words ξένο (xeno, meaning foreign), οἶστρος (estrus, meaning sexual desire) and γόνο (gene, meaning “to generate”) and literally means “foreign estrogen“. Xenoestrogens are also called “environmental hormones” or “EDC” (Endocrine Disrupting Compounds). Most scientists that study xenoestrogens, including The Endocrine Society, regard them as serious environmental hazards that have hormone disruptive effects on both wildlife and humans.[
(Information on xenoestrogens is taken from Wikpedia encyclopedia on line).
As I finished my cleansing ritual I said to myself “You are Out”.
Immediately I conjure up an image of a defeated baseball team – all the bases are loaded and the guy at bat just struck out, so I rephrased my comment.
“Time to get out of the shower”, I said.
Whew! The messages we send ourselves are incredibly important, because those messages become our reality. YOU are OUT implies you have lost at life and are finished. The game of life is over.
Once again, where do these thoughts come from? They come from subliminal messages or not so subliminal in my case. I heard a direct “you will fail at all you do”. Very sad. My mother was so wounded that she took out her rage and disgruntled feeling on me.
Back to the fibroids. One of my greatest accomplishments was clearing up 13 of my14 fibroids naturally, by creating concoctions of crushed apricot seeds, cast oil and pytolalco oil and applying them to my abdomen. I also used homeopathic remedies, weekly acupuncture and other therapies.
I must admit I was happy to have the last one removed by a D & C procedure as my gynegologist suggested. Part of the reason I went this route was just so I could relate to other women who have this procedure. I was warned that after I could bleed for a week but I had no bleeding, no cramping and I was golfing that afternoon.
Remember if you go for any surgical procedures take arnica. I was very impressed with a cosmetic clinic run by Dr. Wayne Carman in Toronto because he prescribes arnica MK after surgery to speed up healing. Very progressive of him.
Now to go back to bathing. I was trained by my Yaqui ancestors in the shamanistic art of ritualistic bathing. This bathing, using different herbs, plants, fruits and vegetables will help remove the blocks we carry in our lives.
Please mail me and I will send you the assessment to determine the bath you need and I will send you the bath recipe absolutely FREE. No strings attached.
This reminds me of a woman who attended my free monthly candida support group designed to help those that often cannot afford to work with a holistic practitioner. This woman thought there had to be a catch, but she followed all my recommendations for six months and got rid of her bloating and horrible PMS symptoms – no strings attached.
Bathing for Health and Emotional Wellness
The luxurious experience of having a bath is an ancient ritual dating back to the Romans and Egyptians. Bathing was not only for cleansing the body but was an experience of beautifying and healing the body. It was popular for those who could not afford the luxury of bathing in fresh water to anoint their bodies with oils to uplift their spirits and for their anti‑bacterial qualities. The art of using oils to anoint the body and bathe in to achieve a sedative effect or for mood alteration was practiced extensively in Babylon, Egypt, China, India, and Pakistan.
The bathing ritual was, and still is a process by which achy muscles as well as toxic emotions of the body can be altered and calmed or eased. Through the use of key aromatic oils and Epsom salts, physical and emotional pain can be altered and eased.
One of the beautiful things about ritual bathing is the ability to appeal to all of our senses. One of the key sensory experiences that the bath should appeal to is the visual. Therefore, it is important to create a beautiful setting of fruits, flowers and floating candles on the surface of the water. The sense of hearing beautiful music in the background will also enhance the glorious experience of the aromatic healing bath. Sound is another form of healing that is often overlooked. To heal the whole body we must appeal to all its sensory perceptions ‑ scent, visual, taste, kinesthetic, and hearing.
Baths have been used in most of all the old ancient religions for a variety of purposes, including: reduce stress, re‑energize, help to overcome a virus, heal an illness, give the individual a sense of pampering and self love, used as a means to get in touch with inner emotions, soothe sore muscles and limbs,as an aphrodisiac and to renew the body, mind and soul.
Learning the art of creating baths will transport you to places you never could have envisioned visiting without leaving your home. These wonderful art creations include a wide variety of ingredients from nature. These include: aromatic oils; fresh or dried herbs (loose in the bath or tied in a piece of cloth); beautiful fresh flowers (a whole flower or just the petals floating on the surface of the water); milk and honey (one of the oldest bath ingredients of all time to soften the skin and fill one with a sense of sweetness and fulfillment); fresh fruit (apples are the most popular because of their association with keeping the doctor away). As you can see the list goes on and on, let your imagination float away with the love dream and fantasy you want to create.
Each of nature’s creations has certain properties which can be used in healing. Bathing, using certain key ingredients, can help the healing by the subtle flow of energy from the ingredients to the individual, carried through the medium which gave birth to life – water.
